MOTS-C is a 16-amino acid peptide (Met-Arg-Trp-Gln-Glu-Met-Gly-Tyr-Ile-Phe-Tyr-Pro-Arg-Lys-Leu-Arg) encoded within your own mitochondrial DNA. Discovered in 2015 by Changhan Lee’s team at USC’s Davis School of Gerontology, it belongs to a class of mitochondrial-derived peptides that act as signaling molecules between your mitochondria and the rest of the cell.
Unlike daily supplements that target one symptom of a slowing metabolism at a time, MOTS-C works upstream at the cellular-signaling level — activating AMPK, the body’s master metabolic switch, by inhibiting the folate cycle and driving AICAR accumulation. It signals directly to skeletal muscle to improve glucose uptake, enhance fat oxidation, and restore the metabolic efficiency that naturally declines with age. It is administered as a small subcutaneous injection, typically 3–5 times per week.
What patients report during a cycle:
- Improved energy and stamina within the first few weeks
- Better exercise performance, endurance, and recovery through weeks 6–8
- Subjective improvements in body composition, blood sugar stability, and overall metabolic well-being that build over 3–4 months of consistent use
Available strengths:
- 2 mg/mL × 5 mL vial (10 mg total) — standard cycle strength
Every MOTS-C prescription is reviewed by a licensed physician and dispensed through an FDA-registered, NABP- and LegitScript-accredited compounding pharmacy. Refrigerate at 2–8°C. Use within 30 days of reconstitution.
